ALTERNATIVE SOURCE OF INCOME.
In village Mohammad Sharif Sahto ,children were engaged in child labor due to poverty.They had to work to bring food to the table. Their parents are illitrate and did not make enough money to provide food and basic needs for the family.
Save The Innocents did not want to continue this cycle for the next generation. SaTIn has established Save The Future Community School to save these innocents' future.
An alternative source of income was given to parents to enable the children to be sent to school instead of working to put food on the table. Save The Innocents provided 22 families with 1 goat and it’s kid. 4 families received a cow and it’s calf. All families were provided with 15 chickens. The animals are healthy and growing rapidly.
In return for the livestock families had to agree to send their children to school and pay part of their income back to the community. Both criteria are being met. A cow owner returns Rs 900 per month; a goat owner Rs 300 and a percentage of the income from selling eggs is also returned.
The villagers are very happy with this arrangement and the families encourage each other to comply with the rules. An important part of the scheme is so encourage more girls into education.
